COURT DISMISSES ANYAWU’S APPEAL, AFFIRMS UZODINMA AS IMO STATE GOVERNOR
The Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Samuel Anyawu, filed an appeal against the Imo State tribunal’s ruling, which upheld Hope Uzodinma’s election as the legitimate governor of the state. However, the Court of Appeal in Abuja has denied the plea.
After resolving every argument made against the appellants in the suit, the court determined that the appeal lacked substance.
Similarly, the Allied People’s Movement’s and the Labour Party’s, together with Achonu Nneji’s candidate, had their appeals denied by the appellate court for lack of substance.
The appellants, who were unhappy with the tribunal’s ruling, had petitioned the court of appeals, claiming that the November 11, 2023, election was void due to Electoral Act violations.
Additionally, the appellants contested Uzodimma’s qualifications by claiming that his WAEC Certificate of Education was falsified.

The court of appeals held in its ruling that the appellants had not provided sufficient evidence to support the claim of non-compliance.
The appellants were unable to provide evidence that the governor had filed a falsified certificate, according to the three-member panel chaired by Justice Bitrus Sanga.
