OGUN GOVT TO PROBE LIPEDE MARKET FIRE OUTBREAK

In order to determine the cause of the fire incident that occurred on Saturday night at the Oba Lipede International Market in Kuto, Abeokuta, which destroyed 15 stores and commodities valued at millions of naira, the Ogun State Government has promised to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
During an on-the-spot evaluation visit to the market on Monday, Mr. Adebola Sofela, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, disclosed this information.
He stated that figuring out what went wrong and how to stop the situation from happening again was the main goal of the extensive probe.
Sofela said, “Experts will be deployed to conduct an integrity test on the building of the market to determine the impact of the fire, while the government will also not delay the rehabilitation of parts of the market affected by the inferno.”
Along with members of the market’s board, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, and the Iyaloja, Mrs. Tejumade Bakre, among other leaders, the commissioner announced that the main building—which was built more than forty-three years ago—would always be preserved and protected because of its enormous economic value to the state’s citizens.
He gave the locals his word that Governor Dapo Abiodun would devise strategies to lessen the suffering of traders whose property was destroyed in the fire.
Market leader Mrs. Tejumade Bakre, who denounced the looting of certain stores shortly after the incident, expressed gratitude to the government and security officers for saving them.
The explosion of a gas-powered generator, owned by a market trader, is believed to be the source of the fire incident that broke out at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday.
On Sunday, Mrs. Funmi Efuwape, the Commissioner for Special Duties, informed reporters that the incident had an impact on fifteen shops.
In order to restore sanity and order, Efuwape claimed that the government will take into consideration demolishing shanties and other unlawful constructions in the market. The fire, he claimed, originated from the outside illegal structures and spread to the main building.
