JUST IN: PRES. TINUBU LAUNCHES STUDENT LOAN SCHEME
On Wednesday, July 17, President Bola Tinubu officially started the Student Loan Scheme, hence initiating the program’s execution.
The State House in Abuja is currently hosting the introduction of the student loan plan, according to Dada Olusegun, special adviser on social media, in an update on “X.”
Recall that a few weeks prior, the President had authorized ₦35 billion for the program’s launch, with 70,000 initial applicants being the goal.
During its first meeting in Abuja last month, the Governing Board of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), chaired by Jim Ovia, approved the release of loans to successful applicants.
One of the main initiatives of the Tinubu administration is the student loan program, which intends to give qualifying students around the country financial assistance for things like school supplies and stipends.
The program’s initial phase is anticipated to assist more than 1.2 million children.
