OVER ONE MILLION STUDENTS ADMITTED ILLEGALLY BY SOME INSTITUTIONS – JAMB
Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has stated that over a million students were admitted illegally by some of the nation’s tertiary institutions.
Oloyede made this statement on Thursday in Abuja during the ongoing policy meeting on 2023/2024 admissions.
The policy meeting, which is attended by heads of the nation’s tertiary institutions as well as other stakeholders, sets the standard for admissions into tertiary institutions in the nation.
He added that the Board has been able to regularize 600 of the number of students admitted illegally. Oloyede also stated that many of the students with illegal admissions lack the necessary qualifications for the course they registered to study.

“Over 1 million students were admitted illegally. We registered about 600 of them because a lot of them don’t have the basic qualifications,” Oloyede said.
