CRIME: TEN ILLEGAL SUSPECTED MINERS DETAINED BY EFCC IN OGBOMOSO
Ten alleged illegal miners have been taken into custody by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal Directorate in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Six fully loaded trucks containing lithium were allegedly found with the suspects, according to a statement released by EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
The suspected illegal miners according to Oyewale are: Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman, Adeleke Waliu, Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq and Olufimihan Eniola.
According to him, the arrests were made in response to reliable information about their possible involvement in the illegal extraction of solid natural resources—particularly lithium—from the state and their subsequent flight to unidentified locations.
However, Oyewale stated that after the investigations are over, the suspects will face legal charges.
