SPANISH DUO FACE UEFA BAN, HIT WITH CHARGES AFTER VICTORY OVER ENGLAND
Spain’s duo of Alvaro Morata and Rodri are facing two-game bans after they were charged by UEFA for their chants about Gibraltar.
The players sang the songs during the team’s post-Euro 2024 celebrations.
Rodri and Morata were heard chanting “Gibraltar is Spanish” during La Roja’s celebrations.
This resulted in a complaint being lodged by the Gibraltar FA for “the extremely provocative and insulting nature of the celebrations.”
An ethics and disciplinary inspector was subsequently appointed to investigate the incident and disciplinary proceedings have now been opened.
According to a UEFA statement, a decision “is expected in due course.”
