DONE DEAL: AWAZIEM JOINS MLS SIDE FC CINCINNATI
Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has joined Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati.
Awaziem, who joined the Orange and Blue from Portuguese club, Boavista signed a one-year contract with the option of another two.
The 27-year-old said he is delighted to join the club and looking forward to having a successful stay.
“It’s been a wonderful time I’ve had with Cincinnati,” he told the club’s official website.
“I see the love the fans and everybody has for soccer. I see all the games that Cincinnati have been playing, and this has motivated me a lot to be part of this team and to feel like what it is to be a player for FC Cincinnati and represent this wonderful and amazing club.”
Cincinnati General Manager Chris Albright said: ” He’s a talented defender with extensive experience at the European and international level.
“His quality, character and leadership will be a valuable addition to our group, and I’d like to welcome him to Cincinnati.”
Awaziem will look to make his debut for FC Cincinnati when they face Mexican side Club Queretaro in a League Cup tie at the Queretaro next week Thursday.
