JUST IN: IED EXPLODES AT POPULAR LIVESTOCK MARKET IN YOBE STATE
The well-known Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State, has had an explosion that may have been caused by a planted improvised explosive device.
Ali Hassan, a Buni local, informed a Channels Television correspondent over the phone that a girl was hurt in an incident that occurred on Friday at around 1:30 PM.
Captain Muhammad Shehu, the spokesperson for Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, verified the event as well, stating that the Army found and successfully exploded another IED that had been put on the market.
He went on to say that the lone explosion victim was being treated at one of Buni Yadi’s medical facilities.
He emphasized that the act was not a suicide bombing but rather a planted IED.
Buni Yadi located 54 kilometres away from Damaturu the state capital, was the worst-hit local government area in Yobe State under the control of the Boko Haram insurgents for two years.
