POLICE ARREST FIVE FOR SELLING MONTH-OLD BABY, RESCUE CHILD IN LAGOS

Detectives from the Oko-Oba Division have successfully dismantled a child trafficking ring following the disappearance of a two-month-old boy. The child’s mother reported that Gloria Sunday, a suspect in the case, absconded with her son to an unknown location on July 11, 2024.

Upon receiving the report, detectives swiftly initiated an investigation leading to the arrest of Gloria Sunday. During interrogation, Sunday confessed to selling the baby for ₦500,000 to one Pastor Peter Udoh.

Pastor Udoh was subsequently apprehended in Ikene Town, Ogun State. He admitted to reselling the child for ₦1,450,000 to Loretta Nelson, who was later arrested in Festac Town, Lagos. Nelson further confessed to selling the baby for ₦2,350,000.

The investigation culminated in the arrest of the final buyers, Mr. and Mrs. James Uwam, during the naming ceremony of the stolen child.

All suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
