‘SUBMIT YOUR PLANS TO US’ – POLICE TELL PROTEST ORGANISERS IN TARABA
The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, David Iloyanomon, has emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful demonstration, free from violence or damage to both government and private properties.
While addressing stakeholders on Saturday in Jalingo, the state capital, regarding the upcoming protest scheduled for August 1, 2024, he urged them to ensure that the protest is not hijacked by unruly elements such as hoodlums or thugs.
The commissioner also urged the organizers of the protest to submit detailed plans for the forthcoming national protest.
Among the details requested by the command, are the protest routes, duration, and names of the organizers.
“To facilitate smooth operations, we requested that organizers submit detailed plans, including the protest routes, duration, and names of the organizers, to the police,” he stated.
The commissioner explained that this information will enable the deployment of sufficient and effective security measures to safeguard the event from start to finish.
Recall that operatives of security agencies conducted a show of force on Friday in Jalingo metropolis ahead of the forthcoming nationwide protest.
Echoing the sentiments of the Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier Kingsley Uwa, told journalists that the ‘show of force’ was aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the residents and people of the state.
“Our duty is to maintain law and order. We want to assure everybody that they can go about their lawful business without the fear of being intimidated,” he stated.
