AUG 1 PLANNED PROTESTS: NCPC SUES FOR PEACE, KADUNA STUDENTS HOLD SUMMIT
Amid the planned nationwide protest slated for August, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has called for peace and patience.
NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, made this call in a statement on Sunday.
He urged Nigerians to seek alternative measures to register their grievances, assuring that President Bola Tinubu is committed to their welfare.
“Despite the difficulties, the President has been implementing palliatives across the states to alleviate suffering. I encourage us to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest and instead explore alternative channels for expressing our concerns,” he said.
“Let us engage in peaceful dialogue, constructive criticism, and collaborative problem-solving. We must work together to find solutions that benefit our nation as a whole. Nigeria is like a ship in a storm; we must work together to keep it afloat, rather than risking it being dashed on the rocks of unrest and chaos.
“I call on all Nigerians to continue praying for our nation and its leaders, especially our President, for wisdom and guidance in these challenging times. Let us choose the path of peace, patience, and perseverance, and work together to build a better Nigeria.”
Similarly, in Kaduna State, students of various tertiary institutions have distanced themselves from the planned august 1st nationwide protest, saying the action will not be in their interest as future leaders.
The students drawn from the Kaduna State University, Ahmadu Bello University, Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic and Kaduna State Polytechnic took the stand during a summit organised to review the achievements of the federal and Kaduna State Government especially in the education sector.
The summit, according to the organisers, is to highlight some of the achievements recorded by the Governor Uba Sani administration in the educational sector and also foster meaningful dialogue amongst students, policymakers and other stakeholders on other issues, especially the planned nationwide protest.
Those in attendance included the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Asefon Sunday and student union leaders from all the tertiary institutions in Kaduna State.
