JUST IN: BENUE GOV DISMISSES ELECTORAL COMMISSION CHAIRMAN
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the dismissal of Dr. John Chem, the chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission.
The state House of Assembly recommended his removal on Wednesday, accusing him of poor judgment.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, and released to journalists in Makurdi on Friday, the governor accepted the resolution.
The statement read in parts, “The Assembly accused the BSIEC chairman of lacking good judgement as to which decision will appeal to the greater majority of all stakeholders, and also that his actions so far in office fall short of the public interest.
