NATIONWIDE PROTEST: MAN STRIPS SELF NAKED TO PROTEST HARDSHIP IN NIGERIA
Amid nationwide protests in Nigeria addressing economic hardship, an unnamed man protested naked in Lagos State on Thursday.
A viral social media video shows him walking naked through the streets of Ojota, singing “Solidarity forever” with other protesters.
These protests, which began on August 1, 2024, under the hashtag #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria, aim to highlight the difficulties faced by the public and urge government action.
Protesters ignored court order restricting them to certain areas and took to the streets, roads, and Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Lagos to voice their concerns.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, assured on X.com that the police were present to ensure the safety and security of everyone, including both protesters and non-protesters.
He wrote, “Area is calm!
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, has visited the protest ground at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos and met the protesters being peaceful.
“He equally checked Alausa, Lekki toll gate and other parts of the state and found them peaceful too. Non-protesting Lagosians have also been going about their lawful duties without harassment or intimidation.
“Monitoring is ongoing. Your safety and security remain our priority.
The area is indeed calm!”
