#EndBadGovernance TAKES NEW TURN AS KATSINA RESIDENTS GO SPIRITUAL DAY 6 OF PROTEST
On Tuesday, a number of worried citizens of Katsina State flocked to the Katsina Arabic Teachers College Playground and three other public areas in the state capital to pray for divine intervention in response to the nation’s ongoing problems with poverty, violence, and inadequate leadership.
Residents apparently behaved quietly during the widely attended prayers, which were held under strict security and were attended by people of all genders.
The people prayed to Almighty Allah to end the nation’s unspoken problems, such as famine, weak governance, persistent economic suffering, and insecurity.
However, the protesters begged Almighty Allah to remove everyone connected to the issues that still exist today and gave rise to the demonstration. These people included, among others, politicians, members of the business community, traditional title holders, the wealthy, clerics, security personnel, and even the impoverished.
The villagers stood and prayed the Al-Qunut, a kind of supplication presented during prayer at a precise point.
Al-Qunut is one kind of suggested prayer, particularly when Muslims experience misfortune.
On Monday morning, a similar drill was held at the football fields of Filin Samji, Filin Yammawa, and Filin Canada.
“We came here to worship God and prayed for Him to wipe away our tears”, said one of the participants.
The nationwide prayers planned to be held across numerous mosques and churches in Katsina State on Saturday, August 10, 2024, were originally arranged by the organizers of the End Bad Governance Protests as a way to ask God for assistance.
The development follows a violent protest that led to the state administration enforcing a curfew.
However, the 24-hour movement restriction order put on Dutsinma Local Government Area and the other 33 Local Government Areas of the state was loosened on Tuesday morning by Faruk Jobe, the Acting Governor of Katsina State.
