WHY CHELSEA LOST TO REAL MADRID – MARESCA
Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has reflected on his side’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.
It was the Blues’ third pre-season loss under their new boss.
Lucas Vazquez and Brahim Diaz put Real two goals up, before Noni Madueke pulled one back for the Premier League side.
Maresca, speaking after the match, pointed to a need to improve the team’s defensive structure.
“I think offensively we played a good game but defensively we had some problems that we needed to solve and adjust. Once again today we created 6, 7 clear chances.
“I think the problem is more in the moment, defensively where we need to improve things, the defensive line in general,” Maresca said.
Chelsea will play one more friendly, before they begin the new season against Manchester City on August 18.
