The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) officials have uncovered a warehouse of banned styrofoam in the Idumota area of the state.

Revealing this in a video shared on X.com on Monday, state Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, wrote, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) discovered a styrofoam packs warehouse in Idumota.

“The product has been confiscated and taken to the Taskforce Office for incineration.”

This development comes on the heels of similar operations.

It was gathered that the LAGESC Surulere division recently intercepted a truckload of styrofoam packs that were bound for Cameroon in the Ojuelegba area of the state.

In July a styrofoam warehouse was also busted at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin.

In January, the Lagos State Government announced a ban on the use and distribution of styrofoam and other single-use plastics across the state.

The decision was reached following the menace that single-use plastics, especially non-biodegradable styrofoam, were causing to the environment.
