PHOTOS: FCCPC SEALS POPULAR WATER FACTORY IN ABUJA, GIVES REASONS
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, on Friday sealed the popular Fabsi Table Water factory situated in the Kubwa Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This was revealed by the commission in a post on X.
According to FCCPC, the development followed a complaint by consumers alleging consumption of expired sachet water containing microbes.
The post revealed that a subsequent investigation uncovered significant violations of consumer protection regulations, stressing that the company failed to provide crucial product information, including production dates, expiration dates, and batch numbers.
The commission further stated that Fabsi Table Water lacked essential compliance records necessary to ensure product safety and quality for consumers.
Although the company claimed a two-month shelf life for its products, FCCPC insisted that the āabsence of production and expiration dates renders this claim unverifiableā.
āThe company attributed the omission of this critical information to printing challenges, a claim the FCCPC deems unacceptable.
āAccurate and complete product labeling is a fundamental requirement under applicable regulations.
āThe FCCPC has temporarily suspended operations at the Fabsi Table Water production facility and summoned the companyās management for further investigationā, the post added.
