JUST IN: GRIDLOCK AS GAS TANKER OVERTURNS ON LAGOS ROAD
A loaded gas tanker overturned in the Anthony Oke area of Lagos State on Wednesday, blocking the main road and causing significant gridlock.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority announced this in a series of updates posted to X.com.
The Lagos State Fire Service has responded to the area, and evacuation attempts have commenced, with LASTMA authorities working to remove the tanker.
LASTMA stated, “A loaded gas tanker has overturned at Anthony Oke, near Trem, inward. Necessary action has been taken, and our officers are firmly positioned to divert traffic to alternative routes.
“Members of the Lagos State Fire Service are also on the ground, and the evacuation process is expected to be carried out swiftly.
“Evacuation has commenced immediately by LASTMA personnel.”
LASTMA advised motorists to use the service lane after Anthony Oke to continue their journey or take alternative routes.
Road users were also urged to exercise patience as emergency services worked to complete the recovery process.
