FLOOD DIVIDES ANOTHER HIGHWAY IN BAUCHI

Read Time:47 Second

Flooding has closed off the Azare-Ja’amare road on the Kano-Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who toured the impacted region, said he had reported the situation to Minister of Works Dave Umahi, who had visited last week when the road was first endangered.

Mohammed also warned that villages could be submerged if the flow of water is not carefully handled.

The tragedy occurred less than two weeks after a rainfall badly damaged a federal highway connecting Kano to Maiduguri, specifically between the Malori and Guskuri villages in Bauchi State’s Katagum Local Government Area.

The deluge caused a massive hole in the middle of the road, forcing drivers to seek alternate routes.

Flooding has hit Bauchi, in the North-East geopolitical zone, in recent weeks, claiming lives and destroying hundreds of homes.
