
LSMTL COMMENCES DELINEATION PROCESSES OF SERVING MATERIALS TEST NOTICES
The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) has commenced the delineation process of serving notices, as part of stringent measures to ensure holistic buildings’ safety across the State.
Speaking during an interactive forum with Non-Technical Consultants (NTC) of the Agency held recently at the facility, the General Manager of LSMTL, Engr. Olayinka Abdul called for collective efforts on concise and valid reports from tests being conducted, across the various project sites.
While speaking further on the delineation process, Engr. Abdul averred that it is an integral move committed towards safety standards. This underscores the importance of providing quality assurance in conformity with established codes of implementing regulations governing the construction industry, through transparency of its operations.
She emphasised that there will be a new form of operation involving unique codes peculiar to each consultant to curb anomalies of fraudulent practices, while also serving as a measure to coordinate and foster a streamlined process through synergy between the Agency’s enforcement team and its consultants.
“To check incidences of buildings’ disaster, upon completion of the tests conducted, the clients should visit a Structural Engineer with the reports for effective interpretations of such results”, she stated
The General Manager averred further that necessary steps would be adopted in the form of sanctions on the project supervisor or anyone who contravenes the stipulated rules and regulations of the Agency.
