SANWO-OLU AIDE PRAISES LATEEF JAKANDE’S LEGACY
Lagos State Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe has paid glowing tribute to a former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande’s legacies, acknowledging his pivotal role in the development of key infrastructure and social programmes that continue to benefit Lagosians today.
The Special Adviser paid tribute to this late icon of Lagos State on Wednesday when he met with the outgoing Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) in his office, adding that it is expedient for them to emulate the political icon.
During the meeting, Aregbe shared a brief history of the late statesman, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, and highlighted his numerous achievements during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.
The Special Adviser encouraged the Fellows to leverage the skills and knowledge they acquired at the Academy to make significant contributions to the state.
He urged them to engage in meaningful and positive endeavours that would uplift their communities and promote Lagos State’s image as a Centre of Excellence.

Aregbe restated the importance of tourism as a tool for economic development and social cohesion, noting that the sector plays a critical role in the Lagos State Government’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
He called on the Fellows to act as ambassadors of the state and seek partnerships to enhance the tourism industry and promote Lagos as a global cultural hub.
Aregbe, however, reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s dedication to nurturing future leaders through mentorship programmes like the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, encouraging the Fellows to stay connected to the values they had been taught and reminded them that the state is counting on their contributions to its continued growth and prosperity.
Mr. Basit, speaking on behalf of the Fellows, expressed their gratitude to the Special Adviser for his warm reception and insightful words of wisdom.
Basit praised Aregbe for his commitment to nurturing future leaders and also pledged that they would work tirelessly to make him, and the entire Lagos State Government, proud in their future endeavours.
He further acknowledged the importance of maintaining the legacy of Lateef Jakande by embodying the values of hard work, integrity, and service to the people.
It should be noted that the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) has been instrumental in shaping young leaders who are committed to driving social and economic development in Lagos State and beyond.
