BREAKING: SUSPECTED GUNMEN KILL THREE, INJURE ONE IN YOBE SCHOOL
Three pupils were killed and one injured when gunmen believed to be Boko Haram terrorists broke into the Faudiya Islamic boarding school in Geidam, Yobe State.
The Islamic School, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement (Shi’ites), is situated in Geidam, Yobe State’s local government area’s headquarters.
According to DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the state spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, who verified the incident to Channels Television, the assailants arrived at the school on motorbikes at 4:00 am today, Friday, August 30, 2024, equipped with AK-47 rifles and began shooting intermittently.
“Yes, there was an attack on Faudiya Islamic School in Geidam the headquarters of Geidam local government area. The school belongs to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shi’ite)”
“When Police received the distress call and rushed to the school, they discovered a total number of 3 students have been killed, while 1 was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment at Geidam Specialists Hospital” he said.
Sani Haruna, 25, who was hurt and is still undergoing medical care, was reported to have died, along with Muhammadu Saleh, 22, Ahmed Abdulrahman, 21, and Abdullahi Adamu, 21.
Geidam, the hometown of the recently appointed Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba, is situated 183 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, and on the border with the Niger Republic. From 2012 to 2016, Geidam was one of the state’s Boko Haram insurgencies’s epicenters.SUS
