NEWS: FIRE RAZES LAGOS GOVT STAFF QUARTERS AT OGBA
The Lagos State Government Staff Quarters, located on Odunsanmi Street off WEMPCO Road in the Ogba area of the state, have reported a fire.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of morning, specifically at 2:20 am.
Information surfaced that one of the sixteen two-bedroom apartments in Flat 5 of Block 21, a three-story, two-winged structure, was set on fire.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, or LASEMA, conducted a preliminary investigation and found that the children’s room had an electrical surge that caused the fire.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that the children’s bedroom was totally damaged by fire, resulting in the loss of items valued at millions of naira.
“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, NPF, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured the fire was contained and extinguished quickly.
“Fortunately there was no loss of life and injuries sustained in the incident.
“Also, victims and other occupants were enlightened on the proper use of electric appliances, “Oke-Osanyitolu confirmed.
As of 5 am, men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASEMA and Nigerian Police Officers, were still battling to put the situation under control completely.
