APC WINS ALL 21 CHAIRMANSHIP POSITIONS IN KEBBI LG ELECTIONS
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 21 local government chairmanships and 225 councillorship positions in Kebbi State, according to the State Independent Electoral Commission.
Aliyu Mera, the Commission Chairman, announced the results over the weekend at the commission’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
He stated that 17 political parties competed in the election, with the main opposition party, the PDP, withdrawing.
The State Independent Electoral Commission has also handed certificates of return to all winners, officially confirming their wins.
Kebbi, a state in northwestern Nigeria, is controlled by an APC administration led by Governor Nasir Idris.
Since July, when the Supreme Court extended financial autonomy to the third tier of government, around 20 states have hurried to hold local government elections.
