The Kidnappers who abducted three indigenes of Emure Ekiti over the weekend, have contacted families of their victims demanding a N30 million ransom for their release.

The incident was said to have happened right at the same spot where pupils of Apostolic Faith Children School were kidnapped in January this year.

It was gathered that the three victims were abducted at a bad spot around Oyimo River, along Emure-Eporo road in the Emure Local Government Area of the state on Saturday evening.

Sources close to the scene revealed that the driver of the Toyota Camry conveying the victims, who happened to be the husband of one of the captives was shot dead on the spot.

A source in the community who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the gunmen called the relatives of the victim for the ransom on Monday morning.

According to the source, ” Very sad that they killed the driver of the car who is the husband of one of the captives. What will interest you is that this particular incident happened at the same spot our school children were kidnapped early this year.

” They have called the family of the three captives with them to ask for N30 million as ransom to release them.”

The Chairman of Emure Local Government, Tosin Adedayo, stated that a joint security team had been pursuing the kidnappers since the report was made.

“I am aware of the kidnapping and have been actively involved in the rescue mission to free our people. Soldiers, policemen, and others who went after the kidnappers have not returned since yesterday. We are confident that our people will be freed.”

The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, did not respond to calls or messages as of the time of filing this report.
