A 20-year era came to an end as Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi, the current holder and eight-time winner, and Cristiano Ronaldo both missed out on Ballon d’Or nomination for the first time since 2003.

The organizers of the Ballon d’Or awards, France Football, on Wednesday night unveiled the nominees for the 2024 edition.

The nominees include expected names like Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Rodri (Manchester City), Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), and Kylian Mbappe (PSG/Real Madrid).

Vinicius Jr. is believed to be the hot favourite to clinch the award.
