81-YEAR-OLD MAN, 2 OTHERS ARRESTED IN KWARA FOR SEXUAL MOLESTATION OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
Three men have been arrested in Kwara State, including an 81-year-old man, by the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command for allegedly defiling a minor.
The octogenarian suspect, Adeleke Oke; Sikiru Lawal and Moshood Ayinde, both 37 years old, were alleged to have defiled a 12-year-old girl (names withheld).
All three were arrested in Offa town of the state after the alleged rape and rupture of the victim’s hymen following repeated sexual penetration.
A press statement by the command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Michael said that the suspects were apprehended last Sunday, after a report was lodged by the victim’s father at the NSCDC Offa Division.
Ayoola said: “the case was transferred to the Gender Unit of the command for further investigation.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the three suspects had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions and threatened her not to open up to anyone about the illicit acts.
“Furthermore, a detailed medical examination confirmed that the victim’s hymen was ruptured and provided clear evidence of repeated sexual penetration.”
Ayoola added that the suspects had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court for onward prosecution.
Meanwhile, the state Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, condemned the despicable act, urging the people to partner with the Corps to combat defilement, rape, and other sexual offenses.
