FUEL PRICE HIKE: EDO GOVT POSTPONES SCHOOL RESUMPTION INDEFINITELY
As a result of persistent increase in fuel price, leading to high cost of transportation, the Edo State Government has announced postponement of schools resumption across the state till further notice.
In a memo issued on Saturday and signed by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, the government stated that the previously scheduled resumption date of September 9, 2024, has been postponed until further notice.
The memo reads, “The Edo State Government hereby announces the postponement of the resumption for all public and private schools in Edo State, which was set for Monday, September 9, 2024. This delay is necessary due to the current tensions resulting from the recent fuel price increase and the difficulties faced by parents and guardians.
“In light of these circumstances, the government advises parents, guardians, and caregivers to closely monitor their children and wards during this period of heightened tension.”
