IKOSI-ISHERI ANNOUNCES YEAR 2024 CULTURAL CARNIVAL

The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada has stated her resolve to engender much more beneficial commerce and good neighbourliness amongst residents of her domain through the Annual Cultural Carnival scheduled for 26th October and 27th October 2024.

Princess Bada made this known on Monday, during a press briefing held at the council secretariat themed: Our Heritage, Our Pride. A Celebration of Culture and Unity.

While giving her speech, the Mayoress stressed the need for preservation of age long cultural values and affinities of the people, as it tends to say much about the essence of their being.

Speaking to the Media during the unveiling of the canival at the LCDA, Majoress Samiat Bada said the Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu would lead a group of distinguished guests from across Nigeria to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

According to information availble to “News Platform”, revealed that Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo Annual Carnival will be a momentous occasion, filled with excitement, vibrancy, and a celebration of the rich cultural heritage that makes Ikosi-Isheri unique.

Mayoress Samiat Bada appreciated the sponsors of the carnival, highlighting that their valuable contributions to the community are greatly appreciated and have not gone unnoticed, reinforcing also the importance of community partnership and the positive impact private sector support can have on events like the Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo carnival, to elevate the reach and significance within the local community.

Bada said the Ikosi Isheri Ketu Magodo carnival has been a proud tradition in the community, paying tribute to the rich cultural tapestry that makes Ikosi-Isheri so special.

She went further to emphasize the collaboration and support of various stakeholders including Traditional Rulers, partner organizations, and the media which according to her, would be instrumental in ensuring the success of this year’s event.

PrincessSamiat Bada acknowledged the diversity of the Ikosi Isheri community as truly exceptional, and the decision to host an annual cultural celebration is a powerful way to honor the unique traditions and customs that make the region so unique, stating that the recognition and celebration of these various cultures not only serves to preserve and share their rich heritage with future generations but also fosters a sense of unity and understanding among the community’s various ethnicities and tribes, she concluded.

The Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo Annual Carnival promises an exciting program of events over its two days life span, offering an immersive celebration of the diverse cultural traditions that make Ikosi Isheri so rich and unique.

Information has it also that the Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be present on the first day and his presence will add an extra layer of prestige to the opening ceremony, which will be followed by an impressive parade of various ethnic groups from the council secretariat with with guest artistes such as Qdot, Haruna Ishola Band, Kegites Group, State Troup, Sangbeto, Igbo Troupe, Ola ljo, Ijebu Cultural Troupe, and others entertaining guest and residents.

The cultural carnival serves as a platform for residents to showcase their diverse traditions, costumes, music, and dance, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.

Princess Bada said that; “Ikosi Isheri LCDA comprises of different ethnic nationalities, in this community we have Hausa, Igbo and the Yoruba and we all live in unity.”

“The carnival has always been a celebration of our beauty and cultural diversity which represents a tradition that unites us as a community.”

She however reeled out plans for the celebration of the forthcoming cultural Carnival.

Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo Annual Carnival aims to promote the importance of preserving and honoring the unique cultures of the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, fostering a sense of unity and pride among the local community and day two would continue the festivities with the renowned Malaika and his band, whose performance promises to captivate the audience with their signature blend of African rhythms and melodies.

A local sensation, popularly known as Ayo Maff and a selection of up-and-coming artists will take the stage, showcasing the talent and creativity of the Ikosi Isheri community. There will also be a series of raffle draws throughout the day, offering attendees the chance to win prizes and further immerse themselves in the celebration.

Also, in attendance at the press briefing was the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Olayinka Ogunleye, the Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Kehinde Ayobode Fatoki, the councils of Oba in Ikosi-Isheri amongst others.
