APC PRIMARY: ASPIRANTS TO GET REFUND ON MONDAY – UZODIMMA
The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma, on Sunday said aspirants who purchased forms for local government elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and did not emerge as party’s candidate would start getting refund beginning from Monday.
Uzodimma’s Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.
According to the statement, “The Governor of Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has assured that all aspirants on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform who failed to secure the party’s tickets for the upcoming local government election on September 21, 2024, will receive refunds starting from Monday.
“The Governor made this assurance after attending Sunday Mass at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, while addressing the state.
“He clarified that only the funds spent on purchasing forms from the party will be refunded, excluding expenses made without receipts, such as those spent on consultations.”
He further said: “All the people that applied as aspirants to run for either councillorship or chairmanship in the local government election who are not successful, your moneys will be refunded tomorrow (Monday). The ones we will not refund is the one you gave without receipts (for consultations).
“We urge the aspirants to remain steadfast, objective, and consider the greater good of the party and the state above individual interests. We also plead with leaders whose expectations may have been disappointed to bear with the party and make sacrifices for the party’s and state’s benefit.”
“Again, I want to assure the public that the election will proceed as scheduled by the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) on September 21, 2024,” the governor insisted.
