LAGOS ASSEMBLY LAUDS LNSA, SAYS AGENCY REMAINS BEST AMONG PEERS

The Lagos State House of Assembly has commended the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency (LNSA) for its introduction of cutting-edge technology in its surveillance operations.
The Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, stated this while speaking at a Media roundtable interactive session tagged “The Role of Technology in Security: Create New Perspectives”.
According to Ogundipe, the LNSA remains the number one grassroots safety and security agency among its contemporaries.
The Chairman also lauded the media on its contributions towards the Safer Lagos initiative of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming that LAHA is prepared to move the Neighbourhood Safety Agency to the next level and it’s only waiting for the amendment of the Federal Constitution.
Ogundipe also appreciated the gallant Officers for their commitment, dedication and purposefulness in the discharge of their duties to the people of Lagos State, reiterating the commitment of the Government to their welfare.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan, FSIN, while launching the drone surveillance and monitoring in real-time platform, commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence.
Oyekan said the real-time platform is another improvement on its deployment of surveillance technologies aimed at ensuring Lagos residents can go about their normal duties and sleep with their two eyes closed without fear.
He also said the agency, in its bid to keep up with the fight against crimes and criminality and, given the highly dynamic security terrain, changed its hitherto monthly submission of intelligence reports to the relevant stakeholders in the security sector to weekly reports.
He commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for their unceasing support for the agency displayed in their constant legislation to better situate the agency for the task of keeping Lagos State safer.
While fielding questions from journalists, Oyekan highlighted the amendment of the law establishing the LNSA to accommodate the Amotekun Unit, which is allowed to bear arms, and also mentioned that the Lagos State Government is not in a rush to activate that section of the law to keep the agency people friendly and civil. Additionally, about 200 scooters were recently deployed for surveillance of inner communities to make mobility faster and reduce costs.
The General Manager said the Lagos State Government has continuously demonstrated its commitment to the welfare, safety and security of the lives of the agency’s officers through constant training and retraining exercises and the provision of various safety gadgets, on a soon-to-be established training academy.
The General Manager also revealed that the agency has had various interactions with the government and the people of the Gambia, who envisage the establishment of a working relationship, just as the Washington DC Police Department has also sent a team for an interface, after which it commended the agency for its pioneering work in community engagement.
Oyekan promised Lagos residents an improved Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency and Corps as the management continues to improve its technological input in grassroots security.
