LAGOS PARTNERS STERLING BANK FOR WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024
The 2024 World Tourism Day celebration with the subject “Tourism and Peace” will be held in Lagos State by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in collaboration with Sterling Bank.
The annual event highlights the critical role that tourism plays in promoting peace, harmony, and cross-cultural understanding around the world, according to Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
The celebration, which is slated for September 27, 2024, at Muri Okunola Park, promises an exciting schedule of events, including vendor exhibits, panel discussions with industry experts, and a lively showcase of traditional music and cultural displays that will highlight the rich legacy of Lagos and Nigerian culture.
The Commissioner emphasized that tourism is an effective means of advancing peace because it not only boosts the economy but also opens doors for cross-cultural interaction and understanding.
Her words, “This year, we are proud to partner with Sterling Bank to celebrate this significant occasion and advance our vision of peaceful and inclusive tourism”.
“Our partnership with Sterling Bank emanates given the long term commitment of the bank to sustainable development, and its support for initiatives that leverage tourism’s potential to create peaceful and prosperous communities”, she added.
The day’s events will include an engaging panel discussion with industry executives exploring the links between tourism, promoting peace, and economic development under the topic “Tourism and Peace.”

Alongside live traditional music performances that showcase Lagos’ diverse cultural offerings, attendees will also get to check out local vendor stalls selling handcrafted goods and food.
Although registration is required, the event is completely free.
