Blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before a House of Representatives subcommittee on Monday to investigate claims of bribery involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Also present were officials from the EFCC and the NCoS, as the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions began an investigation into the blogger’s charges of bribery and corruption against the anti-graft agency and the prison service.

In a viral video, VeryDarkMan claimed that controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, paid ₦15 million to the anti-graft agency to drop money laundering charges against him during his naira spraying ordeal in April. He was later sentenced to six months in prison.

The blogger also claimed Bobrisky spent millions of naira to acquire a preferred prison location.

Bobrisky has subsequently disputed the charges, and both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have launched investigations into the blogger’s claims.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) encouraged the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to launch an independent investigation into claims made by a blogger.
