AYELABOLA NIGERIAN STUDENT SETS NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR LONGEST CATWALK
A student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), broke the previous record for the most distance walked by a model after completing a 130.62 kilometer catwalk, Olalade Ayelabola,
The 120-kilometer effort on Nigeria’s was initiated by Ayelabola, a 500-level computer science student.
On October 1, 2024, Independence Day, at UNILAG’s indoor sports complex, a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest distance walked by a model will be set.
After breaking the world record, the student walked an extra 10 kilometers, making 2,058 laps around the sports facility.
“I did it, everyone! My record is set. There were difficulties but I stood through it. There were pains but I refused to cower.
“Thank you for helping me do this. Thank you @unilagnigeria @esdcunilag. Thank you my beautiful models. Thank you to everyone on my team. I am grateful for it all. Thank you Nigeria,” she wrote on Instagram confirming her exploit.
During her stroll, the model displayed garments designed by Nigerian designers, showcasing items from the department of Theatre Arts at the institution.
The GWR has not yet acknowledged or verified the record, though.
