
JOINT TAX BOARD ANNOUNCES NEW FEES FOR DRIVERS LICENSE, NUMBER PLATES
The Joint Tax Board (JTB) has announced a new pricing structure for the issuance of National Driver’s Licenses and vehicle number plates across Nigeria. The updated rates, which are set to come into effect on November 1, 2024, represent a significant change aimed at improving the quality and security of these essential documents. According to the JTB, these changes align with international best practices to enhance road safety and the overall efficiency of Nigeria’s vehicle identification systems.
Motor Vehicle National Driver’s License:
– ₦15,000 for a 3-year license
– ₦21,000 for a 5-year license
Motorcycle/Tricycle National Driver’s License:
– ₦7,000 for a 3-year license
– ₦11,000 for a 5-year license
Private and commercial vehicles:
– Standard Private Vehicle Number Plate: ₦30,000
– Standard Commercial Vehicle Number Plate: ₦30,000
– Fancy Vehicle Number Plate: ₦400,000
– Motorcycle Number Plate: ₦12,000
– Articulated Vehicle Number Plates (set of 3 plates): ₦90,000
– Dealer (Motor Vehicle) Number Plate: ₦100,000
Government vehicles:
– Government Fancy Motor Vehicle Number Plate: ₦100,000
– Government Standard Motor Vehicle Number Plate: ₦80,000
– Government Fancy Motorcycle Number Plate: ₦50,000
– Government Standard Motorcycle Number Plate: ₦20,000
According to JTB, thee updated prices aim to align with current security features and standards, ensuring that both motorists and the authorities have access to reliable identification systems.
Motorists and relevant stakeholders are encouraged to note these changes and make the necessary preparations before the implementation date.
