LAGOS POLICE DETAINS MANAGER AFTER WOMAN DIES IN HOTEL
Police in Lagos have detained a hotel manager in the Dopemu area following the death of a woman who allegedly visited the facility with an unidentified man.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.
According to Hundeyin, the Dopemu Police Division received a report from the hotel manager at about 10:10 p.m. on Friday concerning the incident.
He stated that at approximately 9:30 p.m. the same day, a man entered the hotel with a woman, requesting a short stay.
The police spokesperson added that the hotel manager did not take note of the identities of either the man or the woman.
“The manager reported that after an hour, the woman rushed out, claiming she felt hot, and he provided her with cold water to drink.
“The manager said the woman still did not feel better and was later taken to a hospital on Dopemu Road, where she subsequently passed away, while the man who brought her to the hotel fled.
“Meanwhile, the hotel manager is in detention to assist with the investigation. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy,” he said.
Hundeyin noted that an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death, identify the deceased, and apprehend the man who brought her to the hotel.
