(JUST IN) AFCON QUALIFIERS: SUPER EAGLES LEAVE LIBYA, EN ROUTE TO NIGERIA

Read Time:1 Minute, 5 Second

The Libyan authorities approved the Nigerian flight to return the players and officials home after they had been delayed at Al Abraq International Airport for more than 14 hours.

Sports journalist Adepoju Tobi Samuel, also known as OgaNlaMedia, revealed this in a post.

He said: “After pressure from several quarters, the Libyan government has agreed to issue clearance for ValueJet Airline to fly and sell aviation fuel to the airline.

“They came with a gimmick to issue a pre-clearance to land in Benghazi first before we fly to Nigeria. The same Benghazi that was busy yesterday.

The NFF has insisted that the clearance from Al-Abraq airport must be for the team to fly directly to Nigeria.”

Sports fan Pooja Media, who went by his X account on Monday, also confirmed the development.

“All officials and Super Eagles players are boarding to fly out of Libya to Nigeria,” he wrote. Praise be to God.

He wrote, “OUR BOYS ARE RETURNING HOME.”

Bruno Onyemaechi, a player, confirmed this by writing, “Liliba and I don’t wash our hands frequently.” Again, nothing worries me or Una. Thank God, I’m returning.

Prior to this, it was claimed that Libyan authorities had denied permission and aviation fuel to ValueJet, the Super Eagles’ chartered jet, so that the players could return to Nigeria.
