Following the dispute between the Super Eagles and the Libyan government, the Federal Government claimed to have provided the squad with “necessary supplies.”

“I have been keeping a close eye on the Super Eagles situation in Libya,” the statement read. Since last night, the Nigerian Mission has remained in communication with the NFF and the Libyan government through Amb. Stephen Anthony Awuru, Head of the Nigerian Mission in Tripoli, Libya.

“Despite efforts, Libyan authorities have not yet authorized the Nigerian Mission’s trip to Bayda City, where the airport is located.

“In the meantime, the Head of the Nigerian Community in Benghazi, Mr. Morris Eromosele, arrived at the location at 6 am this morning with necessary supplies and internet access.

“We will continue to follow developments and await a report for further action.”

Tuggar’s reply follows a statement released on Monday by the Communications Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claiming that the team was abandoned at the Al Abraq Airport.

On Sunday morning, the Eagles left for Libya in preparation for their match against the Mediterranean Knights on matchday four of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament.

The three-time African champions were supposed to play in Libya at the 10,000-seat Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, which is only 10 kilometres from Benghazi. However, there have been rumours that they were moved to a different place.

The Sports Minister, John Enoh also said he has escalated the ill-treatment meted out to the Super Eagles by the Libyan authorities to all concerned authorities.
