MAN RUNS AWAY AFTER STABBING COUSIN TO DEATH IN LAGOS
On Monday, a fight between two family members in Lagos descended into violence when one of them fatally stabbed his cousin.
In a succinct statement, Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin of the Lagos State Police Command acknowledged the event and stated that the offender was still at large.
According to the police, a woman said that a violent altercation broke out between her nephew, Afeez Akeem, and her son, Ganiyu Ibrahim, as a result of their miscommunication.

According to reports, Ganiyu and his cousin Afeez got into a furious disagreement that turned violent at approximately seven in the morning.
“As a result, Ganiyu broke a bottle and stabbed Afeez on the left side of his chest. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. A team of detectives was immediately mobilised to the scene, and photographs were taken,” the police spokesman said.
Hundeyin noted that the family declined an autopsy, choosing to bury Akeem according to Islamic rites.
“The suspect is at large. Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” the PPRO added.
Chibunma Chimelie, 25, was arrested by the command earlier in October after he allegedly fatally stabbed his 68-year-old father in Lagos.
On October 4, 2024, Hundeyin told the News Agency of Nigeria that the incident took place in the state’s Isolo region at approximately 10:00 p.m.
According to Hundeyin, the Aswani Police Divisional Station received a report about the event from the suspect’s brother.
