NIGERIAN ARMY ARREST THREE TERRORIST COLLABORATORS IN TARABA
Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6th Brigade apprehended three people suspected of working with terrorists in Taraba State.
Acting on intelligence information of terrorists’ presence in the Kona mountains, which cut through Jalingo and Lau LGAs, forces from the 6 Brigade launched operations in the general region, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
The operation took place on Tuesday, October 15, in Landey Jessy village, Lau Local Government Areas (LGA).
The accused were identified as Ahijo Sulaiman, Abdulrahman Isah, and Aisha Mohammed.
During interrogation, Aisha Mohammed, Ahijo Sulaiman’s wife, acknowledged that Ahijo’s home is used to hide their weapons after operations.
In contrast, Abdulrahman was identified by a victim he attempted to kidnap in the Iware community of Taraba State’s Ardo-Kola Local Government Area in September 2024.
The accused are presently in military detention, awaiting further investigation.
The Nigerian Army says it is still committed to protecting lives and property, as well as maintaining the country’s territorial integrity.
It also encouraged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies as they fight to rid the country of terrorism and other forms of insecurity.
Jihadist militants conducting a 14-year insurgency in the northeast to establish a Caliphate used explosives and staged gun attacks on pubs and drinking establishments.
There has been rising worry about the developing linkages between jihadists and bandits driven just by financial gain, with no ideological leanings.
Last month, militants attacked a railway track, derailing a train and forcing their way inside VIP compartments, murdering at least eight people and kidnapping dozens more.
Authorities blamed the incident on Islamists and bandits.
The bandits, who were formally labelled terrorists in January, have camps in a large forest that spans Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states.
