VIDEO: LAGOS DEMOLISHES MORE BUILDINGS BLOCKING DRAINAGE CHANNELS
In an effort to prevent flooding, the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has continued the removal of structures obstructing drainage channels in the state.
The ministry’s commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement and videos shared on X.com on Friday.
He wrote, “Operatives of the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance Department of Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, alongside security operatives, continued its enforcement operations with the removal of contravening structures blocking drainages and canals along System 1 Drainage Channel in Arowojobe Estate.”
Wahab stated that the demolition is part of wholesome measures to prevent the problem of flooding, which has become almost intractable in the axis.
Earlier in August, structures built on the System 157 drainage channel along Orchid Road in the Eti-Osa area of the state were similarly demolished.
The Lagos State Government also emphasised there is going back on the enforcement and restoration of right-of-way for all drainage channels in the state.
