COURT DOCKS LANDLORD OVER COMA-INDUCING ATTACK ON TENANT

A 60-year-old landlord named Nwajei Osadebe and his 30-year-old accomplice, Francis Nnamdi, have been arrested and accused in Lagos State for allegedly evicting Princess Maryjane Osakwe from her properties after beating her to a coma and taking N15 million worth of her belongings.
The incident took place at Philip Taiwo Street, Coker Estate, Shasha, Lagos, according to P.M.EXPRESS.
In addition to allegedly beating her to a coma and destroying her belongings, the suspects allegedly broke into her apartment and took her to an unnamed hospital, where she was resuscitated.
After the police at Area M Command received a report about the incident, Idimu and the other suspects were taken into custody and held there while they were questioned about their alleged actions against the victim.
Following questioning, the police determined that they were guilty and brought charges against them in the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offense.
The charges are as follows:
OUNT 1: That you, Francis Nnamdi “M”, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large at No. 31 Philip Taiwo Street, Coker Estate, Shasha, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony by unlawfully interfering with the properties of one Princess Maryjane Osakwe and thereby committed an offence under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully interfere with the properties of one Princess Maryjane Osakwe by breaking into her apartment and throwing away her belongings and thereby committed an offence and punishable under Section 340 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT III: That you Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully steal the properties and cash of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira] from the apartment of one Princess Mary Jane Osakwe and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT IV: That you, Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Princess Maryjane Osakwe, by beating her to the stage of unconsciousness and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law and punishable under Section, 172 of the criminal law of Lages State 2015.”
But they entered a not guilty plea.
Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, the prosecutor, then requested that the court set a hearing date because they had entered a not guilty plea, which would allow the police to establish that they had committed the alleged crime.
Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, the presiding magistrate, granted them bail with two sureties, who would have to provide proof of their income and tax payments while the court verifies their addresses.
The defendants were remanded in detention at the correctional facility in Kirikiri town, Lagos, until they could finalize their bail conditions, and the case was postponed to November 8, 2024.
