GOV NASIR IDRIS APPROVES N75,000 MINIMUN WAGE FOR KEBBI STATE CIVIL SERVANTS
The Kebbi State Government has set a new minimum wage of N75,000 for state officials.
This was stated during the governor-appointed Minimum Wage Committee’s presentation of its findings.
It was a long-awaited moment for Kebbi State workers who had hoped for a salary boost after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Federal Government reached an agreement on a N72,000 minimum wage.
The new minimum salary for Kebbi workers is slightly higher than the federal government’s.
In the presence of national leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress, led by Joe Ajaero, the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala, announced that the agreement was achieved following prolonged meetings between state executives and the labour union.
Following these discussions, both parties agreed on the N75,000 minimum salary.

Governor Nasir Idris, who signed the higher pay into law, emphasised that the welfare of Kebbi State workers is still a major priority, citing his past as a former labour leader turned governor.
He added that the new minimum wage would take effect with the October payroll, with immediate payment due within 72 hours.
While congratulating Governor Idris, NLC President Joe Ajaero chastised certain governors who, despite receiving greater oil revenue, had approved just little salary hikes. He emphasised that the union’s efforts will continue until additional states approve appropriate wages for their employees.
The NLC leaders screamed solidarity songs in gratitude for the governor’s decision on behalf of the state’s workers.
