VINICIUS JR: REAL MADRID SET TO BOYCOTT BALLON D’OR CEREMONY AS BRAZILLIAN IS BEATEN TO AWARD
Real Madrid are allegedly disappointed that Vinicius Junior will not win the Ballon d’Or.
According to speculations, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior will not win the coveted Ballon d’Or, prompting Los Blancos to boycott the celebration.
Despite being considered the overwhelming favourite for the prize, current sources indicate that Vinicius will not be declared the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.
An earlier rumour stated that a leak of the final Ballon d’Or list declared Vinicius the winner for 2024, ahead of Manchester City’s Rodri and Real Madrid colleague Jude Bellingham.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti also sounded confident that the Brazilian star would win this year’s award, especially after his outstanding performance against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.
However, both forecasts look to be incorrect, as the newest reports indicate that the Brazilian singer will neither get the prize nor even attend the ceremony.
Real Madrid are rumoured to be skipping the Ballon d’Or celebration as a result of the upcoming snub, with none of their nominated stars expected to attend.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid’s contingent, which was set to include Vinicius as well as Bellingham and Ancelotti, who are both up for prizes, has decided to stay in Madrid rather than travel to Paris for the presentation.
The club’s displeasure with their best player from the previous season missing out on the Ballon d’Or prize, despite their victories in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga, is thought to be the reason for their upcoming departure.
