68-YEAR-OLD MAN FAMILY SEEKS HELP FOR BATTLING HEART DISEASE
A 68-year-old man’s family is looking for assistance with his cardiac condition.
Anthony Isidahome, a 68-year-old father of five, is in critical need of medical attention due to a persistent cardiac problem that prevents him from providing for his family.
When Isidahome started having trouble breathing and sleeping, he went to the doctor in January. After receiving treatment for high blood pressure, by August, his health had substantially worsened.
His condition has been worse after he was later diagnosed with severe heart failure.
Gift, his daughter, said on Tuesday that her father’s labored breathing has gotten so bad that it can be heard even from outside their house.
He started having trouble sleeping in January of this year (2024), and his breathing became labored, making it harder for him to breathe. We took him to a hospital where he received treatment since we initially believed it to be high blood pressure, Gift said.
“This went on until August, when his condition deteriorated and he was unable to sleep any more,” she continued.
Gift said the family has been having financial difficulties paying for the oxygen they now need to breathe.
“His health has gotten worse.” Since Monday, he has been unable to sleep without oxygen. His health is seriously suffering because he hasn’t slept at all. With oxygen, he can only get a short sleep. “We need assistance,” she bemoaned.
Gift went on to say that the only practical treatment for her father’s illness, according to the physicians, is surgery.
However, the family cannot afford the treatment costs, and two of her siblings’ education has been put on hold due to financial strain.
“My father was the breadwinner of the family, and now he cannot even farm anymore,” she added, explaining that their mother’s income from farming is insufficient to meet both household needs and mounting medical expenses.
“We are drained. We need help. I have only been able to gather N120,000 from the N10 million needed for the surgery.”
