WHEN IT COMES TO TALENT I’M ‘BIG ONE’ – TIWA SAVAGE
Tiwa Savage, an award-winning singer and songwriter, has confidently established herself as a ‘Big 1’ in the music industry.
When asked about her thoughts on the Big 3 and Big 4 debates, Tiwa Savage bluntly asserted that if skill were the only criterion, she would be labelled the “big 1”.
The “Big 3” are Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
She underlined that her great voice abilities and musical talent set her apart, but she also noted that the ranking is based on more than just these things.
During a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, the host asked, “Do you feel like you’ve to be part of the ‘Big 3’ or even ‘Big 4’ conversation? How do you feel about that?”
She replied, “Don’t get me started. If we are to go talent for talent, mic for mic, I am the big 1. If you take off the numbers [streams], and whatever you want to judge the big whatever with, you can’t see me on the mic. But again, it [the ranking] is not based on that [musical talent].”
Tiwa Savage has had an amazing music career spanning over two decades, with noteworthy successes including the release of her debut studio album “Once Upon a Time” in 2013, followed by “R.E.D” in 2015 and “Celia” in 2020.
