DIMEJI AJIBOLA: VETERAN MOVIE DIRECTOR DIES
The well-known editor and director Dimeji Ajibola died following a battle with an unspecified illness.
On Sunday, Samuel Olatunji, a colleague, made the announcement.
“Dimeji Ajibola was my client and guy! So sad to hear this sad news. Rest in peace to a great guy! Sad Sunday as director of Shanty Town Passed away!”, he wrote on Instagram.
Confirming the news also, actor Bolanle Ninalowo, paid a heartfelt tribute on Instagram: “I love you, brother, and I miss you, Dimeji Ajibola. May God heal your family and loved ones. Till we meet again, didi dox, rest on the champ.”
Ajibola directed the 2023 Nigerian crime thriller series “Shanty Town” and was the creative force behind the multi-award-winning 2012 urban musical film “Hoodrush.” S
Among his well-known pieces are Ovy’s Voice, Wura, Hoodrush, Slum King, and Shanty Town.
Ajibola won multiple accolades for his films, including Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards, Best Actor ,Soundtrack at the Nollywood Film Awards and Best Film at Germany’s 2012 Green Me Film Festival
