The Lagos State Government has declared that, for a period of 15 months, traffic will be rerouted at Mile 2 at Loop 1 on the Apapa bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry bound lane in order to construct the Transport Interchange Terminal, which will combine Rail, Bus, Water, and Non-Motorised Transportation.
The construction is expected to start on Monday, November 11, 2024, and end on Monday, February 16, 2026.
As a result, drivers are prohibited from using the following other routes:
-
Motorists heading to Oshodi from Apapa will have through traffic and vice versa.
-
Motorists heading to Badagry from Apapa will continue their journey on the Apapa – Oshodi Expressway and take a turn into Akinwande Road to link Coker and access the Lagos – Badagry Expressway to continue their journeys.
-
Motorists heading to Lagos from Badagry will also have through traffic and vice versa.
-
Motorists heading to Apapa will be diverted into Durban Road to link Amuwo Odofin Estate and connect Apapa-Oshodi Express Way to continue their journeys.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officers will be on the ground along the impacted routes to monitor traffic flow, and the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, affirmed that the diversion routes have been clearly marked with signs to help motorists navigate their destinations. In order to minimize inconveniences, he also suggested that drivers cooperate with the interventions.
