LAGOS GOVT FELICITATES TIFFANY AMBER ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY
The Lagos State Government celebrated Tiffany Amber’s 25th anniversary on Saturday with a lavish runway show at Eko Atlantic City, praising the company for its tenacity and expansion in Nigeria’s fashion sector.
In his opening remarks at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need to create an enabling environment where the private sector can thrive. saying “We must present ourselves and create an ambience that allows businesses, particularly in the creative
sector, to flourish, do well, and grow”.
He highlighted that fashion is not only part of the creative industry but also a crucial component of Lagos State’s tourism ecosystem.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated that the Lagos State Government is dedicated to supporting the creative industry, underscoring its role in boosting the state’s economy and cultural influence. “The creative industry is one that the Lagos State Government is firmly committed
to, offering our support through policies, choice of appointments, programmes, and, where possible, financial backing to ensure the sector’s growth”, he stated.
He praised Tiffany Amber’s founder, Folake Akindele-Coker, who established the country’s first ready-to-wear fashion company when it debuted in November 1998. Comparing it to the renowned runways of Paris and New York, the Governor said the runway event, which is one of the longest in recent years, reflects the brand’s goal to compete internationally.
Mrs. Folake Akindele-Coker spoke at the occasion, expressing her gratitude and enthusiasm for the dignitaries and visitors in attendance. She emphasized Tiffany Amber’s journey from Lagos to the global scene and thanked everyone who had supported the business.
“Our story has been written with resilience, brilliance, and elegance, and Lagos is where it all began. Lagos is where it will forever remain. Tiffany Amber’s success is proudly Nigerian and deeply connected to its roots”, she said.
Along with other notable visitors from the fashion and arts sectors, the dignitaries in attendance included Mrs. Jumoke Oduwole, Ministerial Nominee for Industry, Trade, and Investment; Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture; Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment; and Dr. Titilayo Oshodi, Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy.
