70 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED AS TASKFORCE INTENSIFIES LAGOS TRAFFIC LAW COMPLIANCE OPERATION
The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce), today confiscated 70 vehicles for flagrant violation of the Lagos State traffic law as amended.
The cars were seized after concerted operations conducted at certain sites where commercial transporters’ careless traffic infractions resulted in preventable traffic jams and public annoyance.
The Lagos State Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, warned drivers who have a habit of driving recklessly and insisted that the agency under his direction will not spare those who violate the state’s traffic and environmental laws. He also added that environmental sanity, public safety, and security can only be improved and maintained generally when citizens cooperate and follow applicable laws.
The exercise and enforcement operation were conducted at the intersection of Okuta Road and Bariga, Kodesoh’s Oba Akran Road beneath the bridge, and Five Stars’ Ikeja and Ladipo along the Oshodi-Apapa Motorway, respectively.
CSP Akerele added that as traffic jams are the result of carelessness on the road rather than something that happens naturally or is produced by God, the Agency will not accept or give in to any indiscipline maintained by any lawless driver.
